Fred moved to Washington DC in November 2005 and spent 3 years touring throughout the United States and Canada, returning to Australia once a year for the Autumn festival season. Fred returned to Australia permanently in 2008 to release his new CD Texas. ‘Texas’ captures the zeitgeist of an America divided in the second term of the Bush administration. It touches on subjects from Barak to Iraq with the insight, balance and irony that have made Smith one of Australia’s most respected songwriters.
